How to grow Korean red leaf lettuce in open-field cultivation. This time, I want to harvest Korean red leaf lettuce. (Full grown Korean red leaf lettuce plant.)
Korean leaf lettuce was planted in mid-April after preparing the soil in late March. (Best time to plant Korean leaf lettuce is spring.)
We thinned the Korean red leaf lettuce once in mid-May. (Korean red leaf lettuce plant care.) Thin the plants so there is one Korean leaf lettuce per hole in the mulch.
This year, the rainy season came early, and there was a lot of rain, so the leaf lettuce leaves got damaged. Also, pests ate the leaves, so there are fewer leaves, but they are somehow surviving.
Harvest Korean leaf lettuce leaves when they are about 20cm (8 in.) long, picking the outer leaves first.
If you leave 5-6 leaves in the center, they will grow bigger, and you can harvest them again. You can keep harvesting while growing Korean red leaf lettuce, so it’s cost-effective.
