Side dressing of strawberries (The side dressing time for over winter strawberries is in January)
Grow strawberries in organic farming. Last time, I did winter preparation work for outdoor strawberries. About 45 days have passed since then. This time, I will add fertilizer to the strawberries during winter. (Side dressing for strawberries.)
When is the best time to side dress strawberries? (What is the right time to apply fertilizer to japanese june bearing strawberries?)
The side dressing time for strawberries planted in the ground is usually from early to mid-January. (This timing is just a guide and may change depending on the weather that year.) The reason for this timing is that in winter, it takes time for the fertilizer to break down.
Especially in midwinter, it takes about a month for the fertilizer to start working on the strawberries. If you do side dressing in the cold January, the fertilizer will start working after winter is over and the strawberries begin to bloom in March.
How to do side dressing for strawberries? (What is the way to do fertilizing for japanese june bearing strawberries?)
There are 4 spots for side dressing strawberries. Fertilizer is placed between the strawberry plants, in the spaces between them.
For side dressing strawberries, I use chicken manure. The amount of fertilizer is 10g (0.35 oz) of chicken manure per spot. There are other types of fertilizers, but chicken manure is recommended for organic farming.
Because chicken manure contains a balanced amount of nutrients necessary for strawberry cultivation.
The way to do side dressing is to first dig a small trench between the strawberry plants. Then, put the chicken manure fertilizer into the trench. The trench should be about 10cm (4 inches) deep.
Afterward, water the manure, cover it with soil. With this, the side dressing of strawberries is complete. (Strawberry care in winter is finished.)
