How to grow sweet corn in a home garden. (Corn gardening, growing organic sweet corn.) Last time, I prepared starter fertilizer for corn and made a bed. About a week has passed since then. This time, I will sow sweet corn seeds. (Growing corn from seed.)

The sweet corn variety used for planting is “Honey bantam corn". It is a high-sugar variety of corn, good for home gardening. (Bantam corn is best corn to grow for eating, and best sweet corn for home garden.)

Use a mulch cutter to cut only the plastic on the mulch surface. Once you’ve made holes in the mulch, the sweet corn seed planting preparation is complete.
Sow sweet corn plant seeds by seeding in hill. Sow 4 sweet corn seeds in each hole. The planting depth is about 1cm (0.4 inches). Press sweet corn seeds in to a depth of 1cm (0.4 inches) with your finger.
After sowing the sweet corn seeds, cover them with soil and press down with your hand. Covering with soil and pressing down is called firming, and it’s an important step in planting sweet corn (maize) seeds.
Tips for planting sweet corn seed, pressing down the soil helps the seeds and soil stick together. This allows moisture in the soil to reach the seeds better, making it easier for them to sprout. Firming the soil also reduces moisture evaporation, preventing the seeds from drying out.
After sowing the seeds, we cover the sweet corn plot with non-woven fabric. (The placed non-woven fabric is secured by U-shaped garden pin.)
By placing a non-woven fabric, you can prevent the seeds from drying out, and it also shields them from direct contact with watering or rainwater, protecting the seeds.
Sweet corn seeds (maize kernels) need to be protected from birds. If you leave the sweet corn seeds unprotected after planting, there is a risk that crows and pigeons will come and dig up the seeds to eat them. To prevent the seeds you planted from being eaten, cover them with non-woven fabric after planting.
After covering with non-woven fabric, water the soil to the point of moisture. (Be careful not to overwater, as it can cause the seeds to rot.) With this, planting sweet corn seed is complete.
