Harvest radish (Best time to harvest radishes) – Best way to grow radishes from seed
Grow radishes in field crop cultivation. The radishes sown in early September are now ready for harvest time. Radish how long to grow? (Radish how many days to harvest?) In actual experience, radishes grow really fast.
Since radishes vary in growth, there are still some small plants. For now, I will harvest three radishes that are ready to be picked.
Best way to grow radish (Best time to grow radishes) – Cultivation of radish
We did soil preparation for radishes in mid August. The fertilizer used for soil preparation is fully matured cattle manure compost and canola cake, which is the best fertilizer for radish.
The radish seeding time was early September. Radishes have a short growing period, so we don’t have to be too picky about the seeding time, but sowing radish seeds in the fall makes them less prone to pests. To effectively prevent pests, cover the radish seeds with insect netting after sowing.
After radishes sprouted, as they grew, the bases became slightly exposed. Therefore, around mid September, we mounded the soil. (Ridging for radish. Cover the base of radishes with soil.)
Radishes are vegetables that we eat the hypocotyl at the base, so to make the hypocotyl grow larger, we mound soil around the base. Covering the base of radishes with soil prevents wobbling, ensuring stable growth. It also helps prevent dryness.
Harvest radish (Best time to harvest radishes)
Harvest radishes by pulling them out from the base, lifting the whole plant.
Radishes grow quickly, taking only a month from seeding to harvest. If things go well, I might be able to harvest radishes again before winter, so I’ll sow seeds in the empty space.
Following is the video for how-to. English subtitles are available.
